Set amidst the Cairngorms National Park, RSPB Abernethy reserve holds the largest remnant of ancient Caledonian pineforest in the UK, as well as lochs, moorland, scrub forest and montane plateau. Within Abernethy lies the Loch Garten Osprey Centre - the ancestral home of the UK's ospreys, visited by c. 25,000 people every summer and with an excellent reputation for customer care and visitor experience. As well as the ospreys, close-up views of red squirrels and many small birds on our feeders provide entertainment for young and old alike. Drop-in fun nature activities add an extra dimension for family visitors.

Visitor Experience Manager
Contract – 3 years full time
Based at RSPB Abernethy National Nature Reserve
Salary £19,602 to £26,136 pa


We are looking for a natural leader with excellent people skills and a passion for connecting people with nature, to develop our year-round offer to visitors and lead the seasonal team and volunteers in delivering a top class visitor experience. With a track record in managing visitor experience operations you will also generate income and grow membership support to allow us to deliver more towards our mission of ‘giving nature a home’. Out of season, you will lead on developing the year-round offer to visitors, manage our social media presence and provide support for the Visitor Operations Manager.

Visitor Experience Officer
Contract – 6 months full time
Based at RSPB Loch Garten Osprey Centre
Salary £17,276 to £23,034 pa


We need to recruit Visitor Experience Officers to work at the Osprey Centre, who will help ensure our visitors, both young and old, have a top class experience. You will be warmly welcoming and enthusing visitors about ospreys and other wildlife, the wider work of the RSPB at Abernethy, and ultimately encouraging support for nature conservation and the work of the RSPB through membership.
