THE UNIVERSITY OF ABERDEEN
SCHOOL OF MEDICINE, MEDICAL SCIENCES AND NUTRITION
CRH ADMIN SUPPORT CENTRE FOR RURAL HEALTH, INVERNESS
REF: IHS059S
Led by Professor Phil Wilson, the Centre is located in the Centre for Health Sciences, Phase 2, on the Raigmore Campus in Inverness. This is an ideal location for interacting with NHS Highland colleagues, medical students and a stepping off point for carrying out rural-based research projects.
The University also has within the Centre, its Highland Medical Educational Centre (HMEC) where undergraduate students on the medicine programme carry out up to one year of clinical study.
This position will be based at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. Occasional visits to Aberdeen may be required.
The CRH provides a physical location for its own research teams and for visitors and research students whose work benefits from being carried out in the Highlands with access to remote and rural areas. The Centre therefore has its own resident staff and others who work there more occasionally but benefit from having an organisational structure that is part of the University.
Building upon research in three main themes, the Centre for Rural Health (CRH) aims to achieve an international reputation for academic rigour through substantial grant funding, postgraduate studentships and excellent publications. Its current main research themes, set within a rural context, are Development and Evaluation of Complex Interventions, Use of Technology and Child Health and Development.
