Job Purpose:

 

Reporting to the Site Supervisor you will be an important member of the installation team, contributing to a high standard of work on site and assisting more junior team members to achieve this high standard. Your role is to work on all areas of met mast installation on both tilt up and lattice masts.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

Mast Work: -

 

  • Install, decommission, refurbish and maintenance of met masts as part of site team.
  • Aware of site safety, team safety, team briefings and mast work where no lifting operations are taking place.
  • Assist with mast positioning, layout and placement of anchors.
  • Assist with accurate placement of instrumentation on mast.
  • Assist with setup of instrumentation systems.
  • Handle all client stock with utmost care and attention
  • Ensure appropriate PPE is worn at all times
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending training and educational workshops.

 

Unloading / Loading and Site Equipment: -

 

  • Assist with the loading and unloading of vehicles prior to and after site works, whilst ensuring equipment does not sustain any damage.

 

Lifting / Lowering: -

 

  • Take part in any lifting procedures required during site work
  • Safe use of any lifting equipment and tools, ensuring that all items are returned after use.
  • Complete tasks as instructed by Mast Site Supervisor
  • Assist the Site Supervisor with the on-the-job training and mentoring for new and inexperienced mast installers.
  • Safe operation, cleaning and maintenance of vehicles, tools and equipment in accordance with company procedures and PUWER/LOLER regulations. Any defects or failures must be reported to the procurement manager.

 

Depot.

 

  • Loading and unloading vehicles prior to and after works, ensuring that all lifting equipment is returned to correct locations. Your activities in the depot may be under the direction and control of the procurement manager.
  • You may be required to work at the Dalcross depot, in addition to the routine requirements of mobilisation / demob at the depot.
  • You are responsible for your own health & safety on site, as well as that of your colleagues. You must comply with all company policies and procedures and

 

HSQE.

 

  • Ensure compliance with Dulas ISO / quality policy and procedures.
  • Comply fully with document management systems of the department.
  • Comply with Dulas H & S policy.
  • Pro-active identification of potential improvements / future work.
  • Work to supplied method statements and risk assessments.
  • Report to Mast Site Supervisor or the Project Manager any risks which you feel are not being properly managed.

 

Problem Solving.

 

  • You will be expected to be proactive, dynamic and constructive in relation to solving any problems arising on site or with any other aspect of the Wind Monitoring Department. You will continually monitor and review your area of responsibility with the aim of continued improvement. Any suggestions for improvement are welcome – please feel free to raise them at the periodic Wind Monitoring meetings or directly with the Project Managers.


 

Person Specification:

Essential Criteria

 

Skills, experience & qualifications

Experienced lattice tower climber.

Knowledge of the lifting operations and lifting equipment regulations 1998 (LOLER 98).

Willing to work at height and be trained in safe working procedures for working at height - typically ladder works.

Understanding of safe working practices and health & safety issues on construction / installation sites.

Able to take considered decisions on site, whilst understanding when issues need to be escalated to others for information or resolution.

Willingness to undertake relevant training courses and obtain certificates, as appropriate.

 

Team working

 

An effective team worker who is able to work remotely and independently.

 

Communication – written & verbal

Able to write clear and unambiguous instructions.

Able to communicate clearly with sub-contractors and customers.

 

Management – including self-motivation & time management

Able to manage your own site effectively.

Able to undertake work outside of standard office hours.

 

 

 

IT

Experience user of Microsoft Outlook

 

Other

 

 

 

 

Full, clean UK driving licence.

Willingness to travel and spend time away from home for up to 2 weeks as necessary.

Work often involves being on a remote Scottish hillside in all weathers therefore experience and willingness to work in exposed outdoor environments for prolonged periods is required
